Meet Dr. Matt Kukoda

Dr. Kukoda is currently in his 20th year in education, beginning his career as a middle school and high school Social Studies, Computer Technology, and Basic Skills teacher in the New Jersey Public Schools after receiving his bachelor’s degree in Education, History and Political Science from Monmouth University. In 2012, Dr. Kukoda received recognition as the Plumsted Township's New Egypt Middle School Teacher of the Year, and was also named an outstanding teacher through the Ocean County Teacher Recognition Program. Dr. Kukoda holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Management and Policy from Seton Hall University. Dr. Kukoda successfully completed the doctoral program (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership at Seton Hall University. This program focuses on the utilization of scholarly research and theoretical models which are applied to experiential situations. Dr. Kukoda's research focused on the intersection of student engagement and student achievement. 

Since July 2024, Dr. Kukoda serves as Principal of Manasquan High School, serving the community of Manasquan and its sending districts of Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Brielle, Lake Como, Sea Girt, Spring Lake and Spring Lake Heights. Prior, Dr. Kukoda was the Principal of Holmdel High School from 2021-2024. Dr. Kukoda matriculated to the Holmdel Public Schools in 2020, originally serving as Supervisor of Athletics, Health, and Physical Education. Prior to arriving at Holmdel, Dr. Kukoda served as the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, and Building and Athletic Administrator within the Wall Township Public School District. Prior to working in Curriculum & Instruction and building leadership, Dr. Kukoda served as Social Studies & NNDCC (Naval ROTC) Department Chair, advisor to many clubs, as well as Head Boys' Basketball coach, Head Boys' Cross Country coach, and Assistant Football and Baseball coach. 

Dr. Kukoda has also presented professional development in a variety of areas during his time as an educator. 

When it comes to the students’ classroom learning experience, Dr. Kukoda is passionate about motivation and engagement. These key elements, combined with researched based best practices, will always be the foundation for teaching and learning under Dr. Kukoda's leadership.
